.poppy.

Poppy flowers have 4 to 6 petals.
Petals may be almost any color, and some have markings.
Prior to blooming, the petals are crumpled in the bud, and as blooming finishes, the petals often lie flat before falling away.
 A whorl of stamens is in the center ofthe flower.
The pollen of the oriental poppy, Papaver orientale, is dark blue. The pollen of the field poppy or corn poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is dark blue to greyBees will use poppies as a pollen source.

Also, I won Hannah's photography contest!
As part of our prizes, she made me and the other winners each an award with our winning picture on it!
Thanks again Hannah for hosting this contest- I am honored to have won it!

Hannah is Having a Photography Contest!!

Miss Hannah from Find That Creative Spark is having a photography contest!
The category is Water/Steams. That is perfect for me living in the Great Lakes State and up north too where the most beautiful part of Michigan is!
I had a tough time deciding what to enter. I can enter 3 photos, and can only edit one thing. Isn't that a fun twist to a contest? Usually it's don't edit or edit all you want! I don't think adding my watermark is an edit is it?
Here are my three pictures for the contest. . .

The above three were either not edited or only edited once.
I really hope you really like them Hannah :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what I would LOVE to enter but I edited two things on it so I can't :)
But please enjoy it anyways!
I would like to encourage ALL of you to enter her contest. You don't have to be a photographer to enter. I don't consider myself one, I just LOVE taking pictures. So if you love taking pictures do enter!
Go here:
The more the merrier- right?
.wet.
Tagged by Josie and inspired by Jenn, Megan and Josie :)
Two of my friend, Jennifer (walkingtothebarn.blogspot.com) and Josie (hillbillychronicle.blogspot.com) who I have know since they were very young (I guess I was too ;) both took some awesome wet pictures today. Wet pictures. Outside it is very wet.
Josie said whoever read her post and posted some wet pictures on their blog was tagged by her.
So I am tagged and here are my wet pictures!
What do you think? I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.
Here are some of my sweet nephew who just turned one.
Photography Contest
Miss Johanna is having a photography contest on her blog.
It ends on the 15th, so if you want to enter you better!
Here are my five pictures Johanna!
The peach blossom. . . I got 50-50 on the poll but I voted for this one.
Reasons?
1). A photographer friend said it was more in focus as did some others.
2). My beekeeper brother noticed this blossom was not pollinated yet which made for a nicer looking photo!
An interesting view of creation. . . I love the pollen on the bee :)
My sweet nephew is in the next two pictures. He has got on the front page of a newspaper- why not win a contest too? He's cute enough- isn't he? I think so.
Who doesn't like purple flowers?
One of the rules was NO EDITING.
I can honestly tell you there is none of that in any way shape or form in any of the above photos!
Hope you enjoyed them! I really hope Johanna did too :)
Pictures from the farm. . .
I had fun shooting this little goat today. Try as I might, I could not get her to stand in this perfect looking patch of dandelions and violets. She just kept running and jumping on me. I did get a few nice photos. Here they are.
I think we are going to get apples this year. Yeah! Usually our trees produce every other year, but I think with the unusual weather we have been having we will indeed have apples this year!
Oh, and the blossoms are so pretty too. . .
Our 'guard dog'. I wish he was not. I want a real guard dog but until then. . .
Mr in the picture above will have to do. It is almost 1:00 (AM :) and I heard him honk outside. Wonder how many coyotes he scares away. . . not many I'm thinking.
