i discovered how fun it is to shoot in manual and how not fun it is to fill up a 2gb card and know you only have a 1gb card left.

Hello! HELLO!

Hey everybody! Long time no type :)

Our computer was ruined in a lightning storm-- at least the internet part maybe more maybe less. We are at the Apple Specialists right now and I am using another computer there.

So, I'm not sure how long it'll be before I can do any blogging.

I do have some sad news...

Teasel ran away a couple days ago :(

Very strange since she was not one to take off.

I don't expect her back.

If I were to host a weekly photography contest, would any of you participate??

This is what I am thinking:

It would be on a certain day of the week. Maybe Wednesdays?

There would be a theme for each week. I would start out with picking the theme for the first week and after  everyone enters I will pick the winner. The winner will pick the theme and the winner for the next week.

How does that sound to you??

I was so excited to find out that I won last weeks macro friday contest! I have been having alot of fun looking at everyone's entries for this week and can't wait to pick a winner!!

I took alot of macro photos this week... I was just really in the mood for it :) haha!

So, with so many I was having a hard time picking one for this week. I decided to post the one below since it is different than the others I entered before.

I went out to take some macro photos this morning but nothing was really "catching" me.

I wish I went with my thought yesterday to take a photo of a rain drop on a branch with a flower in it... but I didn't.  I'll have to remember to the next time it rains... 

So, I went into all my photos and picked out one of my favorites I took when our poppies were blooming!

I am entering this photo into the macro friday photo contest... I love macro photos!

I am just learning about photography but I can already tell that I am tending towards taking mostly macro photos!

Most of these photos have minimal editing. I'm kind of happy about that :)

This one I darkened a little. . .

This one is not edited at all. I did not think it turned out very well but Grace thought it was really nice so I thought "well, maybe it is!"

This one has a little bit more editing than the others but not too much.

I can't decide which I like the best...

I really like the last one and the BW close up of the daisies.

I was talking with my nephew one day and I said

"Did you know you are my own special little boy?"

"No!" He says.

"Why not? What are you then?" I ask.

"I'm a duy"

"You're a guy?"

"Yeah!"

"Then, are you my own special little guy?"

"Yeah. . ."

My little guy was down visiting his Dad's parents for two weeks. I missed him, but our time together when they came back was very enjoyable!

Poppy flowers have 4 to 6 petals. 

Petals may be almost any color, and some have markings. 

Prior to blooming, the petals are crumpled in the bud, and as blooming finishes, the petals often lie flat before falling away.

 A whorl of stamens is in the center ofthe flower.

The pollen of the oriental poppy, Papaver orientale, is dark blue. The pollen of the field poppy or corn poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is dark blue to grey. Bees will use poppies as a pollen source.

The category is Water/Steams. That is perfect for me living in the Great Lakes State and up north too where the most beautiful part of Michigan is!
I had a tough time deciding what to enter. I can enter 3 photos, and can only edit one thing. Isn't that a fun twist to a contest? Usually it's don't edit or edit all you want! I don't think adding my watermark is an edit is it?
